Originally built in 1928, Shafter High School has seen thousands of students pass through its historic hallways. With an enrollment of 1,500 pupils the campus experienced significant changes with a multi-million dollar facilities expansion and modernization. Chosen as architect for the project, Klassen Corporation worked closely with campus staff to design an environment to integrate the new facilities with the existing campus.
To date a new cafeteria, modernized administration building, student store, book storage, faculty conference area and workrooms, 8 classrooms including science and computer labs, student and staff restrooms, and storage facilities were completed on campus. More than 25,000 square feet of building space was developed or updated.
